Students discover the working life
2 May 2011 - As part of a nationwide program the ”Future Day“ is a yearly event, which is being performed in Germany since 2001. AICON 3D Systems has participated in the future day for several years in order to support students by getting to know different occupational areas.
On 14 April, this year’s future day, AICON had five interested boys (11 and 12 years old) over at the company’s premises. Two dedicated employees had prepared an educational and entertaining program for the young visitors.
Right after welcoming the young visitors, the boys worked on the question, what belongs to a real company and how it should be structured. The theoretical preparation was followed by the introduction of the real company, by showing the departments, their functions and the AICON measuring systems.
Afterwards they compared different measuring systems and methods to each other: Measuring with the yardstick, with AICON’s DPA and with a laser tracker. At this, it was interesting to see, which inaccuracies or accuracies different measuring systems may create. The boys saw that when measuring with the yardstick, mistakes can already arise by setting up and reading off. The Laser tracker does not have this source of error, but is not so flexible in usage. The DPA system proves to be flexible and precise.
Then, the students got to know the marketing section, where they helped to prepare brochures for the next big trade show.
The day ended with a collective lunch and a large portion of ice cream.
